Carpenter & Cook, Singapore

Here is another blog of bakeries and pastries. Always my favourite to have interesting looking pastries as my breakfast with a cup of hot chocolate. This place is called Carpenter & Cook. You must be puzzled with the word "carpenter" there, right? I supposed. Sound not really relevant with this patisserie but it is meaningful if you have been to this place. They are not just selling bakeries and pastries. They are selling vintage furniture, items and many more which I had took a some pictures on it below. So that is why the word "Carpenter" is for. Before that, let's see what they served first.
Pear Almond Loaf @S$5.00
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Just bread is too common so they added almond to give crunchy bites. As for the taste, the pear will work a tiny sourish pleasure into it so you know you are not eating a common bread. In my opinion, they need to increase the amount of almonds in it. I want to chew more of that! Hee~

Valrhona Sea Salt Caramel @S$6.20
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Sea Salt Caramel? They explained that it is a real salt from sea which carries saltiness of course. Caramel is sweet and salt is salty...sweet and salty combination turned out to be amazing in this pastry. Very delicious and the salty flavour is not strong. It is just a little to bring you a truly different experience. They do sell sea salt caramel separately at S$12.50. Pretty expensive!

Passion Fruit Meringue Tart @S$6.20
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Passion fruit is supposed to be the main character here but the amount of cream and passion fruit is the same. Sometimes my bite will feel that the cream overpowered the taste of passion fruit. For a passion fruit lovers, may get disappointed with this. As for me, I consider it still acceptable.

Lemon Cream Tart @S$6.20
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 1/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 2/5 - Ohh~~~that's how I reacted from the first bite of it. So sourish! The sourish flavour hits to every part of my nerves in my gums. Urgh~ hate this feeling. Someone did claimed it as the best tart in Singapore. I mean...seriously? You can have the sourish kick like Pear Almond Loaf but this kind of kick boxing feel really ruined the appetite for other foods.

Triple Chocolate Muffin @S$3.50
Outlook: 2/5
Creativity: 2/5
Taste: 1/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 2/5 - Queasiness feeling scored 100%.

Hot Chocolate @S$4.80. Nothing beats a cup of hot chocolate. It really energized your entire morning.
Okay, now you can enjoy some shots on their vintage products. FYI, it is not for their shop deco. They are for sale!
But not this cup. Just wanted to show you that even a rusted cup like this brings you a vintage feel. However if is a kopitiam, you will start to complain about their rusted cup. HAHA!

They are located at a place which is not accessible with any closest MRT. Furthermore, this row of shops are pretty quiet and not many other eateries around. Certainly, it is still a good place to have start your day or taking a break in between your day but for sure this meal will be an expensive one. As for the food quality, plenty of room for improvements. I am thinking if my old friend, May Lin is the "Cook" in this cafe, that really will change. May Lin ah May Lin, stop showing off inside your house ler laaaaa...come out and let everyone taste it! I know you love to share so don't waste it! =)
P.S: Check it out her blog to believe! =D
