Restoran Lorong Seratus Tahun @ The Scott Garden

From a very small and "not so eye-catching" stall in Penang which is just selling curry mee and now it has a chain restaurant like this which is selling all types of Penang delicacies. This is truly amazing how the big guys would want to commercialized a small thing. Lorong Seratus Tahun is the restaurant I am talking about here. You can check out my link to their actual look at Penang. They are still in business and look the same but somehow the branches like this is totally different. My guess is someone has bought their branding and commercialized them like Pappa Rich and Old Town Cafe.
Tourist loves Penang food and even they are in KL, they will try a Penang delicacies whenever they got the chance. Not just the tourist but being as a local citizen think has the same thought too. It is brilliant idea to make this as a franchise.
Supreme Fried Koay Teow @RM22.90++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 1/5
Overall: 2/5 - Their menu has a few comes with big prawns such as this fried koay teow and prawn mee which cost more than RM20.00. Not really worthwhile even the portion is big. Lack of wok taste in this which has make it even not worth it.

Asam Laksa @RM8.90++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 4/5
Overall: 4/5 - Delicious asam laksa which brings me back to Penang. It is really fascinating they able to bring the original Penang Laksa to KL which has cured our desire over Penang food. The portion of the Asam Laksa is really big. 3 times bigger than the asam laksa that you probably used to have at Penang such as the famous Pasar Air Itam Laksa.

Nasi Lemak with Ayam Rendang @RM11.90++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - Just a common nasi lemak which is not bad to try if you have not tried a nasi lemak for quite some time.

Nyonya Rice @RM15.90++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - Almost same like the nasi lemak with the ayam rendang and coconut milk rice. Just for a little extra Chinese Popiah there. Not bad but not impressive.

Ice Kacang Special @RM9.90++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - Just a mixed of everything which you hardly taste anything which is particular outstanding. After all, the ingredients are all from the canned products. The only best part about this is their portion is real big which can feed 2-3 pax. So do not try to plan to have this all on your own.

Penang Cendol @RM6.90++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - This cendol is the best choice of dessert there because of their delicious brown sugar which you usually only able to taste in Penang. The cendol is a bit hard but it is still acceptable for me. Overall, it is good choice to pick.

Overall, this is not a bad restaurant to be if you are "saliva dropping" for a Penang but unwillingly to travel 5 hours for them, this place is the best choice. By the way, I need 9 hours to travel to Penang. LOL. Anyway, just choose Penang famous delicacies such as Prawn Mee/Hokkien Mee, Asam Laksa and Curry Mee. However, their fried koay teow is very disappointing. About their service, I have to specially mention it here is they have problems with communicating in any language with the customers. Yes, they are not local. I tried English and Malay with them but they are so hard to understand what we want.
Total Damage: RM84.05
